What is commercial photography?

Commercial photography is any photographic work done for commercial purposes.  Commercial photography typically includes magazine advertising, corporate publications, brochures, restaurant menus, and the like. In the simplest terms,  commercial photography involves a client who wants to sell or promote a product or service for which they need professional photos taken.

Commercial photos can be categorized many different ways, a few examples include:

• Product Photos of an item for sale, such as jewelry, cosmetics, or cars.
• Architectural photos are often used by real estate agents, commercial builders and architects.
• Food photos are used in a variety of ways, such as menus, posters, and culinary publications.
• Fashion photos are frequently seen in magazines, billboards and on TV.
• Annual Report photos are often used to enhance the visual impact of corporate annual reports sent to shareholders and investors.
